REDEFINING BIRTHDAY
Every year one day becomes so important for any human being,
who has well-wishers, that he finds himself sunk into a swimming pool of
wishes. Yeah! It is a pleasant feeling of having so many well-wishers( or for
that moment well wishers). But is it a worthy exercise to be done? Doesn't it
taste like eating the same sweets every year and that too at a particular day? I
don't know how all this originated but still I find it totally fruitless. Just think
what we say someone on his birthday. "Happy Birthday" doesn't that mean "only" his
"Birthday" is being wished as happy!
I know people will argue so many things. They have certain predefined parameters in their minds which have been fueled into them by the society. I have raw thoughts. For them Birthday = we have to wish. Similarly the ones whom they are wishing also have same set of thoughts that everybody should wish them or they will feel dejected. Why so? Why a day has been set in whole 365 days for all this affection (or formal duty) What about the rest of 364 days?
I mean to say we have to flush our thoughts about wishing somebody on any particular day every year. if we really want the well being of somebody, we can wish him at any day. Specially, when he is about to start a new task or journey. The person himself should shed the idea of celebrating birthdays rather should celebrate:
"The day" when a new thought was originated (or born) in his mind which changed his life.
"The day" when he took the first step in realizing his dreams.
"The day" when he stood up after falling in his journey towards his destination.

There are many more examples like the above which are
much-much more important then celebrating our birthday. If we want to relook
the past year as a practice of self realization, new year is just the right
time. If there is an ancient tradition it doesn't mean it is perfect. We should
stop following and rather create new and better ones for our forthcoming
generations. And make them more intellectually developed.
